It has long been recognized and appreciated that the building process requires highly skilled labour to deliver quality product promptly. Hitherto this expectation is yet to be achieved and as a consequence the industry has suffered a number of setbacks cost and time overrun, abandonment of building projects, building collapse, and premature decay of our environment.

The department, situated in the College of Engineering, was founded in 2004. The department has a 5 years BSc. Our programmes are enriched with robust course outlines which are adequately and methodically packaged to prepare our students for the successful practice of the profession anywhere in the world.

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the Civil Engineering Department. We are therefore happy to contribute our own quota in the development of the built industry by raising engineers that are solution-providers and with entrepreneurial spirit.
